Laboratory of X-ray Machines
As part of the laboratory exercises, students are introduced to the construction and maintenance of a medical X-ray apparatus with a vision tracking, as well as to basic measurements of X-ray machine parameters using phantoms (examination of the radiation beam, MTF function, imaging quality, differential techniques).
Laboratory equipment:
- A diagnostic X-ray machine of medium power (40 [kW]) made by Picker to work in the configuration for screening images and for aimed images with a vision tracking.
- Pencil dosimeter (0-2 [mSv]; 50 - 3000 [keV]).
- Cs 137 (333 [kBq], 1992) standard sealed isotope source.
- A strip resolution standard for X-ray imaging.
- Pin-hole camera for direct measurement of X-ray tube focus.
- A strip standard for measuring the modulation transfer function of an X-ray tube.
- Densitometer (0-3.5 [D]), with Hama mini light table, for measuring H-D characteristics of X-ray films.
- Optical bench for testing the coupled optics systems of the X-ray camera video path.
