Laboratory of Biological Models in Electronics

In the laboratory, students learn basic mathematical models of neurons and simple neural networks. Additionally, the investigated models are used to control simple robots built with Lego MindStorm. During the laboratory, students are also introduced to the Emotiv EPOC measurement systems, that are used to acquire brain signals, and the Ambu+ phantom. The phantom is designed specifically to analyze cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It allows monitoring the frequency and depth of chest compressions and respirations. Laboratory classes familiarize students with a modern simulator of transesophageal echocardiography. The unit consists of the manikin (torso version), the computer program, and the database. It allows to simulate the ultrasound image obtained from the transesophageal probe when its position inside the esophagus is changed.
