Department of Cybernetics, Nanotechnology and Data Processing
The Department of Cybernetics, Nanotechnology and Data Processing conducts specialized research within three fundamental scientific disciplines: Biomedical Engineering, Automation, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, and Technical Informatics and Telecommunications. The works carried out in the Department concern both practical and theoretical issues including:
- design and construction of electronic medical equipment, electronic devices for data acquisition, and biological signal amplifiers,
- methods of artificial intelligence,
- technology and characteristics of electronic materials in the nanoscale as sensitive substances to be used in gas sensors with respect to their potential applications such as environmental monitoring and medicine,
- digital processing of signals and medical images,
- medical decision support systems,
- data processing in medicine,
- medical information systems,
- medical databases,
- cardiology diagnostic systems.
We conduct classes for students of the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science as well as Biomedical Engineering:
- on the faculty of Electronics,
- on the specialization of Biomedical Electronics (faculty of Electronics),
- on the specialization of Medical Informatics (Faculty of Informatics),
- on Interdisciplinary Studies.
We are well-equipped with research, laboratory and technological equipment, as well as modern computer hardware that allows us to work using specialized software.
Many of the Department's research activities are carried out in close cooperation with industry and are based on the needs of the region. Some of them are carried out in close cooperation with foreign research institutions.
