Informatics, master degree

Characteristics of the major

Informatics (computer science) is an attractive field of study that offers the possibility of finding employment in domestic and foreign research centers and companies in the sector of high tech technologies. During classes conducted by highly qualified and experienced staff, students gain broad knowledge in many areas of computer science. Theoretical knowledge is supported by exercises performed in well-equipped, modern laboratories. Thanks to the projects carried out during the studies, students gain practical experience, ability to work independently and in a team. Master's studies give the opportunity to deepen the knowledge gained during the engineering studies with the issues that particularly interested the student. Therefore, the choice of specialization is made at once during the enrolment process, and specialization and elective courses constitute almost half of the teaching hours. We offer three specializations focused on selected applications of computer science.

Student Profile

This course of study is intended for those who already have knowledge of computer science, programming and the way computers work, and who are interested in expanding this knowledge, which will allow them to take on more challenging tasks in their future professional careers. The direction of this development depends on the chosen specialization and elective courses.

Prerequisites

Graduate engineering degree in a technical field, preferably related to computer science.

Topics

During the course of study, students acquire knowledge in their chosen specialization. In addition, the following common topics are covered:

  • Analysis and design of information systems
  • Computer vision and pattern recognition
  • Digital modeling
  • Performance evaluation of networks and computer systems
  • Advanced algorithms and data structures

Students also have the option to choose any subject from the pool of available elective subjects.

Specializations

Students choose their specialization at once at the time of enrolling in the program, and specialization and elective courses constitute almost half of the instructional hours in this field of study. We offer two specializations emphasizing different aspects of computer science knowledge.

Graduate profile

Depending on the chosen specialization, graduates may find employment as high-performance specialists in many areas connected with computer science. Completing a master's degree in computer science guarantees an interesting and well-paid job in the IT industry.
