Makrokierunek course, BSc studies

Specialization Characteristics

The Makrokierunek is an interdisciplinary course that covers the most desirable engineering disciplines, in the areas of robotics, electronics and computer science. The course is English-taught and corresponds to challenges of rapid progress of technology in these areas. Teachers are scientists and engineers working in the domains of the study, capable of educating both in theoretical basics and engineering practice. The Makrokierunek provides not only up-to date knowledge, but also all the necessary professional vocabulary, inevitable in today’s engineers’ world. Its study program corresponds to common standards of technical universities in European countries.

The study program corresponds to the common standards of technical universities in European countries. This fact makes possible, for students, to participate in student exchange programs and take part in semestral or yearly courses in foreign universities as part of their study programs. After graduating from the fifth semester, students shall choose one of the three proposed specialties for their own interests, which allows for expanding skills and knowledge in Automation, Electronics or Computer Science.

The BSc. course, Makrokierunek, is a preparation for MSc.  studies in the following courses: Makrokierunek Automatic Control, Makrokierunek Electronics and Data Science.

Student Profile

This field of study is addressed to persons interested in both general issues related to the development of information technologies and their practical applications. The selection of subjects allows for a general orientation in the possibilities of new information technologies, as well as familiarization with classical methods of solving problems in automation, electronics and computer science. Persons interested in combining knowledge from various fields in order to solve new tasks will be satisfied with the studies in this field.

Prerequisites

Makrokierunek BSc studies do not require preliminary professional qualifications (except for the matura exam). Admission to studies depends on the number of points obtained in the qualification procedure.

Topics

During their studies, students will learn about the following matters:

  • Electric and Electronic Circuits and devices
  • Microprocessor systems
  • Measurement systems
  • Computer programming and computer networks
  • Analog and digital signal processing
  • Aritificial Intelligence

International student exchange makes it possible to establish interpersonal contacts and developing the ability to cooperate with people from different cultural backgrounds and with different education profiles.

Specializations

Starting from the sixth semester, studies are carried out in three specializations:

  • Automatic Control
  • Electronics
  • Informatics

In addition to common subjects, obligatory specialty subjects are introduced for each of the specialization, and it is proposed to choose two or three subjects from the list assigned to the specialization. This improves the flexibility of studies and makes it possible to choose the path of education even before starting master's studies.

Graduate profile

Graduate of the Makrokierunek:

  • has thorough knowledge of basic subjects, i.e. mathematics, physics, and the basics of computer science;
  • has knowledge of technical sciences: electrical engineering, control theory, electronics, metrology, computer programming, microprocessor systems, databases, computer networks, artificial intelligence and computer graphics;
  • can solve practical engineering problems using the acquired knowledge;
  • is prepared to work in a team integrating specialists from various fields;
  • has a good command of professional and colloquial English, both spoken and written.

His knowledge and skills prefer him to work in companies dealing with the application of new technologies or in project teams, as well as in research or teaching positions.
