Remote access to electronic resources via the HAN system
From 11 May 2020. The Virtual Infrastructure Section of the IT Centre is offering a new way to remotely access electronic resources via the HAN system (https://www.hh-han.com/en/default.cfm), which replaces the existing proxy server.
Thanks to the implementation of the HAN system all members of the University Community, i.e. employees and students, have been given the possibility of secure access to electronic sources in and outside the network of the Silesian University of Technology. In order to use any of the databases with access limited to the university network, please choose a link from the alphabetical list of e-resources (http://www.bg.polsl.pl/ebazy/listaebaz_s3.html) These databases can be found on the Library's website under the E-Resources tab. Each of these databases has an individual link, after clicking which a login window appears. When logging in you need to provide:
- login, i.e. user name in the domain polsl.pl or student.polsl.pl, e.g. jkowalski@polsl.pl, anowak@student.polsl.pl
- and password for your email account.
In case of termination of the contract of employment with the Silesian University of Technology or graduation and signing the circulation card in the Library of the Silesian University of Technology, access is cancelled.
Also people who use the Library and have an active library account can access electronic resources. When logging in, please enter:
- login, i.e. your library card number
- and a password for your library account in the PROLIB system.
HAN is a reverse proxy server for managing access to electronic information sources. It does not require additional installation and configuration on the user's computer and does not require filling in and sending application forms. HAN is a secure solution that additionally provides a number of functionalities, including:
- user authentication via e.g. LDAP protocol or a library account in the PROLIB system,
- restrict authentication, e.g. only to a specific group of users,,
- control of user rights,
- control of licences imposed on electronic sources,
- keeping statistics on the use of electronic resources.
