Research area: Materials of the Future
The research area includes conceptual analysis and experimental research, focused on obtaining new materials with desired properties, with particular focus on the perspective of their technological applications. The main goal of the development of advanced materials is to increase the comfort and quality of life of people, solve the biggest civilization problems related to the deficit of energy, water, food and climate change and limit the negative effects of technological development.
In this research area, scientists from the Silesian University of Technology conduct research in many areas important for the development of science in the Silesia region, the country and the world.
Our work is conducted in 6 main subareas:
POB3.1 - Organic and inorganic materials for electronics (coordinator: dr Eng. Sabina Drewniak)
POB3.2 - Ultralight and highly resistant materials in automotive and aviation structures (coordinator: PhD DSc Eng. Grzegorz Moskal, prof. SUT)
POB3.3 - Modern materials for construction applications (coordinator: PhD DSc Eng. Beata Łaźniewska-Piekarczyk prof. SUT Beata.Lazniewska-Piekarczyk@polsl.pl)
POB3.4 - Modern materials for medical applications (coordinator: dr hab. Eng.Marcin Basiaga, prof. SUT)
POB3.5 - Advanced methods of material surface modifications (coordinator: Prof. PhD DSc Eng. Artur Czupryński)
POB3.6 - Modelling and testing of physicochemical properties of materials (coordinator: Prof. Jerzy Bodzenta)
