Graduate profile

Graduates of the Applied Linguistics Department have the knowledge, skills and social competences needed for both translators in specialist fields, and for professionals working in international companies or those cooperating with foreign partners.

Thanks to their ability to use communicative language skills in the lead language they study at the C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and at B2 for an additional language, it will be possible for graduates to work in an international professional environment. Intercultural competences and the ability to communicate in a linguistically and culturally diverse environment strengthen their employability. They are also prepared to solve the complex problems a specialist translator faces and to be guided by principles and ethical norms in their work.

An introduction to entrepreneurship, sustainable development and corporate responsibility, as well as awareness of trends in the development of science and technology, in areas such as sustainable development, environmental protection and artificial intelligence, mean that graduates will be able to be effective and efficient professionals in business and industry. This is enhanced by an awareness and understanding of international cooperation and how various enterprises function.

Applied linguistics, as an area of study with a practical profile, provides a wide range of practical classes and 720 hours of vocational training in the whole study cycle. This allows theoretical preparation to be combined with practical application, and for students to develop the practical skills needed in a professional environment, which include the ability to select and use appropriate means and methods of work and information technology.

The block of theoretical classes on linguistics, which includes translation studies in intercultural, promotional and business communication and linguistic research, provides the graduate with adequate preparation for further study at universities in Poland and abroad.
