History of the Department in the Years
2010
Incorporation of the Teacher Training College of Foreign Languages into the Silesian University of Technology and establishment of the College of Foreign Languages.
2013
Establishment of the College of Education and incorporation of the Teacher Training College in Gliwice into the Silesian University of Technology.
2016
Merger of the College of Foreign Languages with the College of Education and establishment of the College of Social Sciences and Foreign Languages.
2019
Transformation of the College of Social Sciences and Foreign Languages into the Institute for Research on Education and Communication, which included the Department of Pedagogy and the Department of Applied Linguistics – launch of first-cycle studies in the field of ‘applied linguistics’.
2022
Merger of the Institute for Education and Communication Research with the Faculty of Organisation and Management – the Department of Applied Linguistics is transformed into the Department of Applied Linguistics.
2025
Transformation of the Department of Applied Linguistics into the Department of Applied Linguistics and Law – establishment of a postgraduate programme in Legal Linguistics.
