Green and Digital Workshops

On June 28 and 30, 2025, the Faculty of Organization and Management at the Silesian University of Technology hosted the "Workshops Supporting Green and Digital Competences" as part of the project titled "Developing Competences of the NUB Sector Among High School Students from the Subregions of Rybnik, Gliwice, Bytom, Katowice, and Sosnowiec", co-financed by the European Funds for Silesia 2021–2027 programme. The project is led by Prof. Aleksandra Kuzior, Dean of the Faculty.

The workshops were attended by students from general secondary schools in Rybnik, Gliwice, Bytom, Tarnowskie Góry, and Ruda Śląska. The activities were conducted by staff members of the Faculty: Dr Katarzyna Postrzednik-Lotko, Dr Dorota Dolińska-Weryńska, Dr Eng. Kinga Stecuła, Dr Bartłomiej Knosala, Dr Barbara Rożałowska, Dr Małgorzata Nadziakiewicz, and Dr Piotr Weryński.

The aim of the workshops was to support young people in better understanding the processes related to green and digital transformation and to develop future competences such as critical thinking, teamwork, creative problem-solving, and the use of new technologies. The workshops took various forms, including interactive lectures and discussions, training games, role-playing, and practical experiments using technologies that support cognitive processes, such as VR goggles and educational kits for renewable energy production.

Students had the opportunity to learn about real-world implementations related to energy efficiency and renewable energy sources across different industries. They worked with case studies, analyzed the human impact on climate change, discussed Poland’s energy future, and learned how to engage in conversations with climate sceptics based on scientific facts. Particular emphasis was placed on fostering pro-environmental attitudes, climate awareness, and understanding the role of technology in shaping a modern, responsible labour market.

Thanks to these workshops, participants not only gained new knowledge and practical skills but also strengthened their readiness to actively participate in the ongoing transformation that affects us all. We sincerely thank all participants for their engagement, curiosity, and openness to change.
