On October 1, 1970, the Faculty of Production Organization of the Silesian University of Technology began its activities. In 1973, a group of modern didactic and research laboratories was launched. On October 1, 1992, the Institute of Organization and Enterprise Management was established by merging the Faculty of Management (created from the Faculty of Production Organization) and the Center for Social Sciences. The Institute was located in Katowice and Gliwice. It functioned within the structure of the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, had little independence and its strategic goal was to establish the Faculty of Organization and Management. On June 1, 1995, the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, by his own order, acting on the basis of the Resolution of the Senate of the Silesian University of Technology, transformed the Institute of Organization and Enterprise Management into the Faculty of Organization and Management.
Since October 1, 1998, the headquarters of the Faculty has been located in Zabrze, 26 Roosevelt St.
