Support for Students by the Office for Persons with Disabilities
We kindly inform that the Office for Persons with Disabilities (in Polish: Biuro ds. Osób z Niepełnosprawnościami – BON) is available to all students of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice. The Office is located in the Rectorate building at Akademicka Street 2A, room 283, and is open from Monday to Friday, between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Students receive all necessary support during individual meetings and personal, telephone, and email consultations regarding all activities offered by BON.
The Office’s task is to ensure conditions for full participation in the educational process for persons with disabilities, as well as equal opportunities to access the full educational offer of the Silesian University of Technology. Additionally, the BON assists students of the Silesian University of Technology who report the need for such support and do not have a disability degree certificate. Students can take advantage of both the BON and the Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Persons with Disabilities, as well as Faculty Deans’ Plenipotentiaries for Persons with Disabilities, where they receive comprehensive support according to their individual needs.
In cases of difficult situations requiring specialized support, students can take advantage of free psychological consultations offered by the university. Responding to the expectations and needs of students (a request from the Student Union), we have expanded the consultations, which are conducted in Gliwice, Zabrze, and Katowice in Polish, English, and Russian. Upon a student’s request, consultations can also be conducted online.
Consultations in Zabrze are held at the G-Home Psychological Center (Pułaskiego Street 17). Students who would like to take advantage of the consultations should send an email to bon@polsl.pl with information in which city they would like to have the consultation and provide their phone number. We then pass the information to the Psychological Clinic, which contacts the interested person by phone to schedule a consultation appointment and select the most suitable specialist. In case of the need for individual support, please contact the BON in Gliwice (bon@polsl.pl, phone: 32 237 23 50), where all possible assistance within the scope of BON’s activities will be provided.
