On 2 October 2026, the academic community of the Silesian University of Technology will officially begin the new 2026/2027 academic year. The inauguration ceremony will start at 11:00 a.m. at the Education and Congress Centre of the Silesian University of Technology on Konarskiego Street in Gliwice.

The main highlights of the ceremony will include the inaugural address by the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Marek Pawełczyk, the formal matriculation of newly admitted students, as well as speeches by invited guests.

A special highlight of this year’s inauguration will be the lecture entitled “What Will We Be Doing in Space in 5, 10 and 30 Years, and What Will Your Role Be?”, delivered by Artur B. Chmielewski, a space mission manager affiliated with NASA, Caltech and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).

The inauguration celebrations will continue on the same day at 4:00 p.m. with a Holy Mass at the Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul in Gliwice, celebrated for the employees, doctoral students and students of the Silesian University of Technology.
