Project description

Biomedical engineering is an interdisciplinary field of science that has advanced significantly over the last years. The aim of biomedical engineering is to develop new technologies for protecting health and life, using knowledge and technological achievements from fields such as biology, physics, chemistry, medicine and pharmacy. Material chemistry is also extremely important in biomedical engineering, thanks to which it is possible to design biomedical devices, diagnostic equipment and implants with specific properties and functionality, often tailored to the individual needs of the patient.

The aim of the work carried out by the team of students is to develop novel polymer materials and biosensors that are used in biomedical engineering. The project team deals in particular with:

  • designing electrochemical biosensors for early detection of sepsis,
  • developing anticancer drug carriers using biopolymers,
  • investigating the possibilities of using electroactive materials in biomedical engineering,
  • synthesis, characterization and numerical modeling of biomaterials used in tissue regeneration.
