The Centre of Climate and Environment Protection is a university-wide organizational unit of the Silesian University of Technology (established on December 21, 2020) that conducts activities at the University for climate and environmental protection, of an international nature, in cooperation with organizational units of the Silesian University of Technology and external centers in the country and abroad, and also with partners.
The main tasks of the Center are:
1) conducting research activities in the field of climate and environmental protection and promotion of innovative technologies,
2) organization and coordination of activities undertaken at the Silesian University of Technology in the area of climate and environmental protection,
3) close cooperation with representatives representing the University’s 6 Priority Research Area entitled Climate and environmental protection, modern energy,
4) organization of cooperation with industry, scientific units and other research centers operating in the field of climate and environmental protection in the country and abroad,
5) organizing national and international conferences, congresses, debates and scientific meetings with the participation of outstanding specialists from the country and abroad,
6) popularizing knowledge in the area of climate and environmental protection in society, including among the academic community and students of secondary and primary schools, and conducting exhibition activities,
7) promoting the achievements of Polish science in the field of climate and environmental protection at home and abroad,
8) acquiring domestic and foreign partners for cooperation in the area of interest of the Center.
The partners connect the Center with the socio-economic environment, signal the current regional problems related to the region’s adaptation to climate change, provide a “base” for testing and implementing ideas resulting from the research conducted by the WC or other research centers cooperating with the Center.
