The 1st Metropolitan Energy Days took place on September 24–25, 2021. Energy Days is an event that has become a permanent fixture in the calendar of pro-ecological events in Katowice. This is another extended edition of the educational project, which has been prepared by the Katowice City Hall for several years, and which has now been joined by the Metropolis of Upper Silesia and Zagłębie. The first day was filled with meetings of students from metropolitan high schools and conferences of local government officials. The second day was a family picnic in front of the Spodek Arena in Katowice.
The Climate and Environment Protection Center actively participated in this event. On the first day, the director of the Center, prof. Joanna Ferdyn-Grygierek gave a lecture for high school students entitled "Energy efficiency and climate change".
The Director was also a member of the jury in the competition for students entitled "Energy efficiency at school and at home." The subject of the competition was the recording of a film presenting the subject of the competition. Centre together with the Faculty of Environmental and Power Engineering funded the first prize in this competition - a multimedia projector.
