Natural tissues are highly organized structures with complex microarchitectures, mostly characterized by a gradual change in biological, chemical, and mechanical properties. Understanding and reconstructing this specialized environment is a key to regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. Our group develops biomimetic implants and tissue models, mainly using 3D biofabrication techniques. Thanks to modern manufacturing technologies, the implants obtained can be precisely adapted to the needs of the patient, which will improve the treatment of severe body injuries. We are also interested in the development of advanced tissue models for in vitro studies, e.g. drug toxicity, which is aimed at e.g. limiting in the near future experiments on animals in biomedical sciences. Our main research topics include 3D bioprinting, meltelectrowriting and bioinstructional materials (guiding the behavior of co-cultured cells).
