We are delighted to announce that on December 5, 2024, Mirella Fuhrmann, a doctoral student at the Department of Heating, Ventilation, and Dust Removal Technology at Silesian University of Technology, received her nomination to the Youth Climate Council (YCC). This prestigious honor marks a significant step toward amplifying the voice of the younger generation in climate policy discussions.

The Youth Climate Council, established by the Ministry of Climate and Environment, is an advisory body dedicated to engaging young people in decision-making processes related to climate protection and environmental sustainability. The Council provides a platform for dialogue between young activists, scientists, and policymakers, promoting initiatives for sustainable development.

Mirella Fuhrmann is conducting her doctoral research under the supervision of Prof. Joanna Ferdyn-Grygierek, PhD, and Dr. Aleksandra Lipczyńska. Her research focuses on assessing the energy performance of personal environmental control systems (PECS) and personal thermal comfort models, an area of great importance in the context of climate change and the need to address climate disasters.

An alumna of the prestigious AEC Global Teamwork program at Stanford University, Mirella Fuhrmann has been actively involved in improving indoor air quality and promoting sustainable solutions in building technology and environmental systems. Her motivation to join the YCC stems from her belief that the future of our planet depends on the decisions we make today.

– I believe that our future depends on the actions we take today. I want to promote and support initiatives related to environmental protection, as well as establish collaborations with environmental activists and policymakers to make a tangible impact on climate policy – emphasizes Mirella Fuhrmann.
