Scientists' Night 2024 is already behind us!
On Saturday, October 12, 2024, the Department of Heating, Ventilation, and Dust Removal Technology had the pleasure of participating in the Silesian University of Technology's Science Night. This annual event attracted a crowd of science enthusiasts who had the opportunity to experience innovative technological solutions and gain knowledge in a friendly, interactive format. The staff, PhD students, and students from our department prepared a series of interactive attractions that garnered great interest.
Visitors could take part in numerous workshops and demonstrations aimed at introducing modern technologies related to heating, ventilation, renewable energy sources, and workplace safety:
• Ergonomics of Desk Work – This activity allowed participants to learn how to properly organize their workstations to avoid health problems related to improper posture. Experts in ergonomics led the workshops.
• Safety Board Game – Safely to the Goal – A special educational game was prepared for younger participants, though not only for them. The game playfully conveyed knowledge about occupational safety and health principles. Everyone could try their hand at the game, with the competition unfolding in a friendly atmosphere.
• Renewable Energy Sources – Practical demonstrations related to the use of renewable energy drew the attention of many visitors. During the presentations, participants learned about the operation of solar collectors and heat pumps, discovering how these technologies contribute to eco-friendly home heating.
• Discover the Power of Air – Practical workshops in a climate chamber focused on the operation of ventilation systems and their impact on the health and comfort of building users. Additionally, various interactive activities showcasing the power of air were prepared for participants of all ages!
• Photo Booth – There was also fun for those who love entertainment! Everyone had the chance to take a souvenir photo in the photo booth, which brought many smiles and joy, especially to the youngest participants.
The department's academic staff – Dr. Monika Blaszczok, Dr. Piotr Ciuman, and Dr. Aleksandra Lipczyńska – organized these exceptional activities. They were supported by PhD students Stanisław Kocik, M.Sc., and Jakub Karwatka, M.Sc. Additionally, students from scientific clubs, the Office of Unstoppable Need for Safety Information and the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Club, actively contributed to the event's organization.
The event promoted science and technology and helped visitors understand modern solutions that have a real impact on our daily lives. We thank all the participants and invite you to future editions of Science Night!
