Workshops for high school students as part of the "Metropolitan Energy Days"
In the period from 12 to 17 October, the Metropolitan Energy Days took place for the second time. This year's theme was "Ecological Metropolis". As part of the event, on October 15, workshops for high school students were held at the Science and Technology Park in Katowice-Ligota.
Our Department employees, dr inż. Aleksandra Lipczyńska and dr inż. Piotr Lubina prepared a workshop entitled "Building energy demand". The workshop aimed to familiarize young people with the concepts of energy demand to shape an appropriate indoor environment in buildings. The following issues were discussed: the difference between the design needs and seasonal thermal needs, the needs related to heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC systems) or hot water preparation, as well as how heat consumption and operating costs are influenced by the degree of building insulation, the number of residents or the type of energy carrier.
