dr hab. inż. Joanna Ferdyn-Grygierek

The academic degree of Ph.D., DSc, Eng. awarded by the Council of the Faculty of Environmental and Energy Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology in 2018 in the discipline of environmental engineering.

Currently, Prof. Ferdyn-Grygierek works as a research and teaching professor. In her research, she develops topics related to the optimal shaping of buildings and heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems from the point of view of energy consumption and the quality of the indoor environment. She is the author or co-author of over 80 publications. In her research, in addition to in-situ measurements in buildings, she uses advanced numerical techniques, including programs for thermal simulation of buildings. She has participated in many research projects, both as a manager and contractor. She authorizes several studies and expert opinions prepared for industrial partners. She cooperates with design offices and co-authors several dozen executive designs for ventilation and central heating installations in buildings. She has the authority to perform energy audits and energy performance certificates for buildings.

In 2003, she completed postgraduate studies in occupational health and safety.

Director of the Centre for Climate and Environmental Protection at the Silesian University of Technology. Principal investigator of the NCN OPUS research project entitled “Digital building-human avatar for designing and operating energy-efficient buildings with an advanced thermal model of users” (2024-2026), carried out in cooperation with Empa Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology in Switzerland.
