Assistant professor, conducts classes in the field of heating, heat engineering and energy auditing. Dr. Specjał’s main topic of interest is the rationalization of energy use in buildings for heating and ventilation, taking into account the issues of sharing heating costs.
Dr. Specjał graduated from the Faculty of Environmental and Power Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology, and then worked for six years at the Mining Studies and Projects Office in Gliwice, where she obtained building qualifications to perform independent functions in construction, specializing in installation and engineering.
Since 1993, she has been working at the Department of OWiTO, successively as an assistant and assistant professor. She obtained a doctorate in technical sciences in 2002 at the Silesian University of Technology. In 2004, she gained scientific and research experience during scientific visits to the Laboratory of New Energy Technologies at the Technical University in Porto in Portugal and the Laboratory of Thermodynamics at the University of Liege in Belgium, as well as as a participant in workshops on TRNSYS and EES simulation programs used in research works. Dr. Specjał took part in many scientific and research works. She is the co-author and author of dozens articles and papers published in magazines and conference materials, several chapters in collective works on heating and energy auditing, editor of one volume of the “Guide on thermal diagnostics of buildings”, and a co-author of the textbook.
In 1995, she completed a lecturers’ course at the Danish Technological Institute in Copenhagen: “Training course for Energy Consultant Instructors”, obtaining a certificate of energy consulting lecturer in building construction. In 1995-2010, she lectured at the Courses of Auditors and Energy Advisors in Construction, organized under the patronage of the Polish National Energy Conservation Agency. She is also a co-author of training materials issued by KAPE for the purposes of these courses. She is a member of the Association of Energy Auditors.
She is authorized to provide energy performance certificates for buildings, in accordance with the Act on energy performance. In the years 2008-2013, she conducted lectures, practical exercises and diploma theses at postgraduate studies: “Energy auditing in construction for the needs of thermal modernization and energy assessment of buildings”, organized by OWiTO, the completion of which entitles to drawing up energy performance certificates for buildings. In the years 2008-2011 she also conducted lectures and practical exercises during training courses preparing for obtaining the authorization to prepare energy performance certificates.
In 2018, she raised her teaching qualifications and acquired new competences to be used in teaching practice by participating in a three-month training course: “Innovative didactics of an academic teacher of the Silesian University of Technology” organized as part of the Knowledge, Education, Development Operational Program. Since 2008, she has been a member of the Faculty Education Quality Assurance System Committee.
