The Office for People with Disabilities has been operating at the Silesian University of Technology since 1 July 2008, which is part of the Department of Student Affairs and Education. The office reports to the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education.
The aim of the Office is to provide disabled people with access to the educational offer of the Silesian University of Technology on the basis of equal opportunities and to provide disabled students and PhD students with full participation in the education process.
The services of the People with Disabilities Office are also addressed to candidates for studies with disabilities and health problems, and in the field of information and advisory services, also to teaching and administrative staff of the Silesian University of Technology. All disabled students can use the office services, regardless of the type and degree of their disability.
These tasks are performed as part of the following services:
- teaching assistant and sign language interpreter,
- adaptation of educational or examination materials,
- adjusting the form of credits and exams,
- psychological consultations,
- rental of equipment supporting the education process,
- consultations and assistance in adapting the education process to the needs of disabled people,
- career counseling.
