Murzyjulia - (Not)fully able

Where is the line between fitness and its absence? Does rust take away an object’s functionality, or does complete disintegration take it away? Does a person stop being fit when they lose full mobility, or only when their surroundings take it away?

A wheelchair – created to give freedom – here became a symbol of limitation. Corrosion eats away at metal, just as time leaves its mark on a person. And yet it is still here. Perhaps not fully fit, but still present. Two perspectives intertwine in this photograph: the material and the human. Both show that fitness is not a binary category – it is a process that changes over time.
