COMPETITION RESULTS ARE IN

CORROSION IS EVERYWHERE...

just look around and you will surely notice her gloomy (and often even red) face. Although we generally perceive it as a clearly harmful phenomenon, it is also worth paying attention to its natural beauty. Yes, natural! After all, it is a process that occurs spontaneously, without human intervention. Therefore, if you can admire the majestic mountain landscape, why not a corroded doorknob?

This is the third time we celebrate World Corrosion Awareness Day at the Silesian University of Technology on April 24 and, just like last year (and in 2023), we invited everyone to participate in the "Corrosion around us" photo competition. The previous edition enjoyed considerable interest. We received over 150 wonderful photos that captivated us with their ingenuity and a different, more artistic look at the problem of corrosion.

On April 10, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. GMT+2, we closed the competition for entries.

The competition results will take place during a ceremony at the Biotechnology Center of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice on April 24, 2025. It was an amazing opportunity to talk about corrosion, exchange views on contemporary photography and establish new contacts.

The competition featured over 70 sparkling, multi-colored corrosion products-laden photos! All of them were magnificent, which left the competition jury quite embarrassed... After many open disputes and exciting arguments, 3 photos emerged, which awarded grand prizes in the competition.

In addition, we have distinguished 7 additional photos that we considered important for our small corrosion community. We invite you to admire the skill of our competition participants in the gallery below.

Each photo is additionally provided with a description (just click on/touch the photo), which includes many elements of the exposed image.

We sincerely congratulate all the participants of the competition, and especially the authors of the awarded works, and invite you to take part in the competition in the annual edition of the competition.
