The wreck of the Edro III, lying off the coast of Paphos (Cyprus), is a perfect example of the progressive corrosion of steel in a marine environment. The action of salt water, oxygen and moisture leads to an electrochemical process of oxidation of the metal, resulting in visible layers of rust on the hull and structural weaknesses. The sunset highlights the contrast between the beauty of nature and the inevitable process of degradation of materials by the environment.
