Educational Activity:

Co-founder of the inter-Department Biotechnology field of study at the Silesian University of Technology; Dean's representative for these studies since 2004.
Lectures in Polish and English in the field of systems theory, control theory, optimization methods, biomathematical modeling, games theory, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, systems biology. Lectures at foreign universities: visiting professor at the University of Mississippi, Mississippi, USA, 1989: lectures on algebra for non-mathematical second-cycle studies, lectures on differential equations, individual lectures at various universities (see international cooperation).

Educational distinctions: Golden Chalk in the academic year 1977/1978 and 1978/1979, BiOOscars 2017 for the friendliest lecturer in the field of Biotechnology.

Supervisor of 11 doctorates (5 of mentees already have a post-doctoral degree, including one having the title of professor), reviewer of 31 doctoral dissertations, 10 habilitation theses, 15 applications for the title of professor, 18 applications for promotion to the position of professor at universities (including foreign).

Scientific achievements:

  • Inequality and generalized inequality models of uncertainty
  • Optimization of anticancer therapy protocols as optimal control problems
  • Optimal and robust control problems for piecewise deterministic problems with jumps
  • Application of system theory tools in genomics, application of evolutionary games in in cancer population modeling.

Publications: 450 papers (130 in WoS), 3 monographs, 2 academic books, more than 200 talks at international conferences (including 38 invited talks)
