- Prof. Lauritz Holm-Nielsen
Chairman of the expert panel for the evaluation of proposals in the first call of the "Excellence Initiative - Research University" (IDUB) programme and Chairman of the international expert panel for the IDUB mid-term evaluation. Rector of Aarhus University from 2005 to 2013. He is co-author of the 2017 peer review report on the Polish higher education and science system, prepared under the Horizon 2020 Policy Support Facility. In the past, he has held a number of positions in higher education and science institutions, including Vice-President of the European University Association from 2012 to 2015, and was the World Bank's senior expert on higher education from 1993 to 2005. He is a member of the Danish Academy of Natural Sciences, the Academy of Technical Sciences and the Learned Society;
- Prof. Mariam Camarero
Professor of Economics at the University of Jaume I (Castellón, Spain), holds the Ad Personam Jean Monnet Chair in European Economic Integration. Academic Director of INTECO, a joint research unit between the University of Valencia and the University of Jaume I on economic integration. Evaluator of scientific journals as well as research agencies, both national and international, including the European Commission.
- dr Mariana Chioncel
Member of the international expert panel for the IDUB mid-term evaluation, she has served as national expert at the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS) of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission, and specialises in trends and developments in the area of research-related policies in the European Union and associated countries. Professor of Chemistry at the University of Bucharest.
- Prof. Simon Gaskell
Member of the panel of experts for the evaluation of proposals in the first IDUB competition and member of the international panel of experts for the mid-term evaluation of the IDUB, Chair of the Board of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education in the UK. He was Vice-Chancellor for Research at the University of Manchester from 2006 to 2009 and Vice-Chancellor of Queen Mary University from 2009 to 2017,
- Prof. Peter Maassen
Member of the panel of experts for the evaluation of proposals for the first call of the IDUB programme and member of the international panel of experts for the mid-term evaluation of the IDUB, expert on research in the field of science and higher education. President of the Higher Education Development Association (Hedda), a European association of higher education research institutions. Professor at the University of Oslo
- Prof. Henrik C. Wegener
Rector of the University of Copenhagen (UCPH) and Professor of Zoonotic Epidemiology. He has been involved in the integration of a number of large government research institutes into the university, the merger and reorganisation of several small university departments, and the reform of university governance and internal management. In 2016, he became the first Chair of the Group of Chief Scientific Advisors to the European Commission's Scientific Advisory Mechanism.
