Internship abroad

with the ERASMUS+ Programme

Eligibility criteria

  • The qualification system for mobility is a two-stage system, comprising:
    • faculty’s qualification - conducted by the Faculty’s Qualification Committee
    • central qualification - during which the applications of students who have been qualified by the Faculties are evaluated by the International Mobility Office

Eligibility conditions for placements

  • The programme is only open to active full-time and part-time students (with no academic delays or conditional entries).
  • Students on leave cannot qualify.
  • The grade point average of previous studies is taken into account (this information can be obtained from the Student Services Office - BOS).
  • Good knowledge of a foreign language, recognised as the working language in the foreign centre, is essential (a minimum B2 language level is recommended).
  • Knowledge of the target country’s language is an advantage.
  • Commitments to student, academic and internationalization-oriented activities of the Institute / University are worth showing.
  • A student may participate in Erasmus+ mobility for a maximum of 12 months at each degree level, regardless of the form of mobility (study and placement periods are added up).
  • Only students after the 1st semester of their first degree programme / five-year master's degree programme may leave for their exchange.
  • NOTE: The placement is also open to graduates (up to 12 months from the date of graduation, understood as the date of taking the diploma exam, but the qualification for the trip must be taken before that date).

Call deadlines - when to apply?

  • Candidates are qualified by the last day of each month and are recruited until scholarship funds are exhausted.
  • Recruitment for placements is continuous.
  • The order of application is decisive.
  • Apply initially with the Faculty Coordinator at the recruitment meeting.
  • It is possible to apply for an internship after the recruitment deadline, during the academic year, as long as funds are available.

How long does internship last?

  • The minimum duration of internship is 2 months.
  • A student is entitled to 12 months of Erasmus+ mobility during the study cycle, all study trips are included in this period.

When to go on a placement abroad?

  • The summer months (July, August, September) within one academic year.
  • If your placement extends into October, you can request an individual study arrangement for this period.

The nature of the internship

  • You can go on placements to companies, businesses, research institutes, etc., subject to the restrictions on the status of the host institution given in the Erasmus+ Programme Guide.
  • You may, as part of your placement abroad, complete a compulsory student placement included in your study plan or undertake a placement additionally to enhance your skills, including language skills.
  • The nature of the host institution and the scope of the placement should, as far as possible, correspond to the scope of the placement provided for in your study programme.

Funding principles

  • The financing of the Erasmus+ Programme grant is subject to the period of the placement:
    • departure for a minimum of 2 months.
  • Scholarship rates depend on the destination country according to the group assigned to it, and oscillate between EUR 600 and EUR 700 per month.
  • Students qualified for the trip and entitled to a social grant at the time of departure will receive additional financial support of EUR 250 per month.
  • Students with disabilities who have qualified for placement are eligible for additional funding.

How to find an internship?

  • Choose an Institution where you could do an internship. You can use the information on the website of the International Exchange Section to find a company. Remember that the placement must be related to your field of study!
  • Ask your friends and family living abroad to help you find a company or institution willing to take you on as an intern.

How to apply?

  • Fill in the application form (see attachments) and bring it with you to the recruitment meeting or send a scan by e-mail to the Coordinator - Jacek Pradela, MA Pradela@polsl.pl.
    • You can obtain information on your grade point average from BOS.
    • The activity declared in the APPLICATION for the benefit of the Faculty / University should be documented.
  • Wait for the results of the Recruitment Committee and the announcement of the qualified list and the reserve list.

 

And when you are informed of your qualification....

  • In order to correctly complete all the formalities related to mobility within the ERASMUS+ Programme, please read the rules of mobility on the website of the International Mobility Office: https://www.polsl.pl/rn3-1-dwz-swm/en/
  • After receiving information from the International Exchange Section, prepare the following documents:
    • Student Application Form (SMS/SMP=SMT) - Student Internship Application Form.
    • Learning Agreement for Traineeships (Training Agreement) - TA, i.e. the programme of the placement planned to be carried out abroad.
    • The TA placement programme may not have an assigned number of ECTS credits, but it must always be linked to your field of study and the placement grade must be included in your transcript of achievement.
    • Application for a Trip Abroad (Wniosek o wyjazd za granicę)
  • The necessary documents should be submitted to to Sekcja Wymiany Międzynarodowej (the International Mobility Office), Akademicka 2A (2A Academic Street), room 48, Wydział Górnictwa, Inżynierii Bezpieczeństwa i Automatyki Przemysłowej (Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation building), approximately 4 weeks before departure.
  • Once all the documents have been approved, the International Exchange Section staff member responsible for the faculty will begin the procedure of signing the scholarship agreement.
