About the Institute for Education and Communication Research of the Silesian University of Technology
The Institute of Education and Communication Research was established on 1/10/2019, as a result of the transformation of the College of Social Sciences and Foreign Languages.
The College of Social Sciences and Foreign Languages was established on November 1, 2016. (under Order No. 11/16/17 of the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology of 25 October 2016 on the merger of certain basic units) from the merger of the College of Foreign Languages and the College of Pedagogy - two units whose presence became part of the history of the Silesian University of Technology in 2010 and 2013 respectively. So far, over twenty years of their educational activity in Gliwice in the formula of Teacher Training Colleges has influenced the development of their own educational brand, resulting from high educational standards and recognizable on the regional labour market, associated with solid preparation at the level of vocational studies. The new unit, operating as a faculty, continues the best traditions of the Colleges. Combining the experience of many years of effective operation of the Colleges, the commitment of the current and previous management staff, and recognizing the enormous potential of the students and staff, it creates perspectives for continuous and effective further development.
The Institute of Education and Communication Research educates students on full-time and part-time studies in Applied Linguistics and Pedagogy.
Practical profile of studies, including modules of theoretical classes connected with practical professional preparation, promotes continuous development and, through cooperation with domestic and foreign institutions, enables:
- student exchange and active participation in classes and internships,
- improving employees' qualifications through participation in trainings and workshops,
- using the infrastructure of the units (studios, laboratories, libraries),
- taking action to improve the quality of education,
- co-organization of conferences,
- project planning and implementation.
Particularly noteworthy are activities in the area of personal scientific development, publishing and promotion of individual achievements, and continuous sharing of knowledge and experience.
