PBL projects
In 2020, a group of students, including two from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Industrial Automation, carried out a PBL project entitled Development of an actuator-sensor device for a Haptic Feedback control system.
This project consisted in building a control stick system cooperating with the working machine so that the machine operator, while manually operating the stick, could feel the force reaction on the stick with his hand. This project was interdisciplinary and combined knowledge of programming, automation, metrology, mechanics and electronics. It also required skills such as the use of power tools, knowledge of technical drawing (2D and 3D), knowledge of 3D printing and broadly understood manual skills. In addition to the conceptual work on the project, the students were asked to perform experiments and calculations in an evolving project. The most difficult part of the project was connecting the various components that were created in isolation as a result of pandemic restrictions.
