Ph.D. Krzysztof Kubiczek among the contractors of the Horizon 2020 European Research Council project
An employee of our Department, Ph.D. Krzysztof Kubiczek, has been included in the group of contractors of the BIOTRAFO project, financed by the Horizon 2020 European Research Council (https://www.biotrafo.unican.es/). The project aims to investigate the possibility of using biodegradable oils in power transformers. As part of the project, Ph.D. Kubiczek completed foreign internships at the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas, Centro de Investigación de Métodos Computacionales in Santa Fe, Argentina and Balıkesir Elektromekanik Sanayi Tesisleri A.Ş., in Balikesir, Turkey. The project is implemented by a consortium consisting of nine European universities and five partners from outside Europe. The project at the Silesian University of Technology is coordinated by prof. Jacek Smołka from the Department of Thermal Technology, and at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering by prof. Mariusz Stępień.

Two distinctions and the IEEE Gold Medal for Professor Marian Kampik
We are proud to announce that the Head of our Department, Prof. Marian Kampik, received two distinctions and the Gold Medal of the prestigious Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for publishing activity in the journal "Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement" over the last seven years.
Study visit to the FCA Poland plant
On 10 May 2018, a group of students from Power Engineering, Semester IV, participated in a study visit to the FCA Poland plant in Tychy. The students were supervised by employees of the Department of Metrology, Electronics and Automatics: Ph.D. Janusz Tokarski, Ph.D. Ryszard Bogacz, and Ph.D. Beata Krupanek. During the visit, under the supervision of professional guides, students had the opportunity to visit the Fiat 500 and Lancia car factory.
