FameLab Poland 2026 Competition

We encourage you to submit your applications for the national final of the FameLab Poland 2026 competition, which will take place on June 8–9, 2026, in Katowice.
FameLab is one of Europe’s most important events dedicated to science communication, led by the United Kingdom (Cheltenham Science Festival). The task for FameLab Poland finalists—students, doctoral candidates, and PhDs—will be to captivate the judges and the audience with their passion for science in three minutes.

Applications

The call for applications for the national final of FameLab Poland 2026 is open until May 10, 2026. In the first stage, an international jury will select semifinalists from among the applicants, who will participate in expert training on scientific communication led by European specialists on June 8–9, 2026. On June 9, 2026, the national final of the FameLab competition will take place in Katowice, during which the finalists will present their science projects. The winner of FameLab Poland will represent Poland at the FameLab World Final, which will take place in December 2026 during the 10th Silesian Science Festival in Katowice.
Cash prizes totaling at least 20,000 zlotys are awarded to the top three winners.

A Global Phenomenon

FameLab was founded in 2005 in Cheltenham, UK, as part of the local science festival, but it quickly won the hearts of audiences around the world.
Local editions of the competition have been organized in over 30 countries on every continent, with more than 40,000 participants taking the stage. Currently, the event takes place in countries including the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Italy, Australia, Malaysia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.
In Poland, FameLab was organized from 2012 to 2021 by the British Council Foundation in collaboration with the Copernicus Science Center in Warsaw. During that time, nearly 650 participants applied for the Polish edition of the competition—many of whom went on to become outstanding science communicators.

The University of Silesia has decided to continue this tradition and revive the Polish edition of FameLab, inviting young scientists to Katowice—the European City of Science.
