Chronology of projects - 2015/2016
• The project was part of a wider European Union ICC (intercultural online collaboration) enterprise. It was attended by students from 5 countries: Finland, Hungary, Estonia, Spain and Poland. The students worked in 17 international 4-person teams using the e-learning platform (Eliademy) to compare cultural differences such as business behaviour, dress code or etiquette in the workplace. Grażyna Duda, MA was the coordinator of the Polish group.
• The first CLIL classes originated as part of the English language course (level C1) taught by Grażyna Duda, MA, at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology. Helena Parviainen, an English language teacher from Häme Technical University in Finland who had been cooperating in this field with the Foreign Languages Centre of the Silesian University of Technology for several years, was a mentor and advisor supporting the implementation of the CLIL project at our university. This project posed a real challenge for students - designing and making concrete benches and establishing cooperation with local companies in order to obtain the necessary materials.
The subject matter coordinators of the entire undertaking were prof. SUT, dr hab. Tomasz Ponikiewski and Grzegorz Cygan, MEng.
• UNI-CLILiG (Content and Language Integrated Learning in German). The initiator and patron of the project was the Goethe Institute – the largest and most prestigious educational and cultural institution promoting the German language and culture all over the world. The project involved the introduction of professional content taught as part of the subject ‘Spatial planning’ in German language classes at the postgraduate level at the Faculty of Architecture. The main topic was to analyse various aspects of urban spaces, their spatial development and to create urban plans and concepts for the city of Psary. The final result of CLILiG projects were presentations of work, analyses and projects in German. The whole project was coordinated by Gabriela Szewiola, MA.
