UN-IGF 2021 Digital Summit in Poland
On 6 December, Katowice will host the 16th UN-IGF 2021 Digital Summit. During the event, the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology will sign an agreement on the establishment of the first Polish interdisciplinary research consortium integrating technology, legal engineering and digital competencies.
From 6 to 10 December, the 16th UN-IGF 2021 Digital Summit will be held at the International Congress Centre in Katowice, Poland. This year's motto is "Internet United", which means a free, indivisible, open Internet. It is here that global themes and best practices related to the digital space will be discussed.
The Summit will be attended by the Secretary General of the United Nations - António Guterres, Vice-President of the European Commission - Margrethe Vestager, dozens of ministers of digitisation from all over the world, business representatives from various continents, NGO activists and academics. The most important decisions concerning the future of the Internet will be made at this event.
During the Summit, an agreement will be signed on the establishment of the Silesian Centre for Law Engineering, Technology and Digital Competence CYBER SCIENCE. This will be the first Polish interdisciplinary scientific and research consortium combining technology, Legal Engineering and digital competences.
The agreement will be signed by the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology Professor Arkadiusz Mężyk, the Rector of the University of Silesia in Katowice Professor Ryszard Koziołek, the Rector of the University of Economics in Katowice Professor Celina M. Olszak and the Director of the Research and Academic Computer Network Wojciech Pawlak.
The signing ceremony will take place on 6 December 2021 at 4.30 p.m. at the International Congress Centre in Katowice. During the event, a keynote lecture on the Digital Europe 2021-2027 Project will be delivered.
The UN-IGF Digital Summit will be held for the 16th time, and the organisers have prepared over 300 different activities, including workshops, open discussion forums, group sessions and networking sessions. It also includes high-level sessions with representatives of countries and international organisations, as well as a parliamentary session.
