The Science Popularization Centre (CPN) at the Silesian University of Technology is turning 5️!

For five years now they have been convincing that science is for everyone. They popularise and promote scientific research, organise shows, lectures, workshops and meetings. The Science Popularization Centre at the Silesian University of Technology celebrates 5 years today. 

The Science Popularization Centre (CPN) was established in 2017, it is a university-wide organisational unit at the Silesian University of Technology, which operates in the area of promotion and popularisation of science and scientific research, in cooperation with other units at the university and scientific centres in the country and abroad. Since its very beginning, the Centre has been managed by Professor Aleksandra Ziembińska-Buczyńska PhD, DSc.

The Science Popularisation Centre organises various events addressed to a wide audience, not only to scientists of our University. To mention some of them: the Researchers’ Night, the Silesian Science Stand Up, the competition "About science in layman’s terms", the Scientific Santa Claus Day or the Silesian edition of the Three Minute Thesis®. The purpose of these events is to popularise science, while the Centre itself is a meeting place for scientists and society, where everyone, regardless of age and education level, can find something interesting for themselves. The events are attended by students, senior citizens and anyone who wants to discover science.

Activities taken by the Science Popularization Centre have been recognised countrywide. Last year, the Centre received the prestigious title of the Popularizer of Science 2021 in the institution category. The award is given to scientists, media people, institutions and social activists who disseminate knowledge among people who are not associated with the scientific and academic community.
