Professor arch. EWA WALA passed away

It is with deep regret that we inform about the death of Prof. Ewa Wala, valued researcher and academic teacher. She was 60 years old.

Ewa Wala was born on the 24th of December 1961 in Mikołów. She studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice from 1982 to 1988. In 2001 she was awarded the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences and in 2015 the degree of doktor habilitowany (post-doctoral degree) at the Faculty of Architecture, Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

During her work at the Faculty of Architecture (since 1989), she participated in numerous research projects, including the project carried out for the IPPT PAN within the framework of the Central Programme of Basic Research, her own research and the European project REKULA (Restrukturierung der Kulturlandschaften) carried out with scientific institutions from Germany and Italy within the framework of the INTERREG III B CADSES programme where she was the coordinator of the Polish part of the project and a permanent member of the Expert Committee of the project.

Prof. Ewa Wala's research focused on the use of glass in modern architecture and on issues related to the transformation of post-industrial areas and facilities. She published about 40 scientific papers in this field of research. These achievements gave her the position of an expert in the scientific community.

Professor Ewa Wala used her experience and competences achieved in research in her teaching work. She was a valued supervisor and reviewer of numerous engineering and master's theses. She created a student scientific association and led its activities for many years. As an academic teacher she was valued and admired by students.

Profesor Ewa Wala was accompanied by an aura of diligence, regularity and responsibility during her long-term work at the Faculty of Architecture

The funeral  ceremony will be held on the 25th of November 2021. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 8.45 AM in the Church of St. Wojciech in Mikołów followed by funeral ceremony at the parish cemetery.
