Police Day 2022
The Education and Congress Centre hosted Police Day 2022. As part of the celebrations, dozens of police officers and civil employees of the Gliwice garrison received nominations and awards, and commemorative medals were presented to distinguished institutions, including the Silesian University of Technology.
This year's Police Day ceremony is unique because the Silesian Police celebrates its 100th anniversary. The event at the Education and Congress Centre was attended by representatives of the University, the leadership of the Silesian and Gliwice police forces, and representatives of the local government authorities of, among others, Gliwice, Knurów and other cities of the Gliwice district.
During the event, outstanding police officers received promotions and awards. Commemorative medals to mark the 100th anniversary of the Silesian police also were presented. Our University also received this award.
The Silesian University of Technology is an icon of Gliwice, so it is a great honour and privilege for us, uniformed personnel, that we could celebrate our day on the premises of this noble University. Police Day is a time for summaries, gratitude and promotions. This year, many policemen from the Gliwice garrison were honoured, some of them in a special way. (...) During my speech, I said that people are the most important without policewomen and policemen, we are not able to do practically anything, and that is why we should thank them and ask them to continue to perform their tasks with such commitment as here in Gliwice’ said Superintendent Roman Rabsztyn, Voivodeship Police Commander in Katowice.
A concert performed by the police orchestra followed the presentation of the nominations.
