Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Ambassadors chosen
A competition entitled 'Become an Ambassador for the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technology' and 'Companion Robot in 2045' was held at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The competition was aimed at secondary school students.
A student selected through a competition announced by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of SUT could become a Faculty Ambassador. The ambassador is appointed for an academic year, and the task is, among other things, to promote and communicate the activities of the faculty to the students of their school.
Those who wanted to become ambassadors had to draw a robot of the future from 2045. The date is no coincidence, as the Silesian University of Technology will be celebrating its 100th anniversary. The visions of the robots of the future prepared by secondary school students will also be an excellent reminder for future generations and a document of how the robots of the future were imagined in 2022. If any of the visions come true in the future, there will be an excellent opportunity to recognise the ambassadors as visionaries too, as, for example, we recognise Stanislaw Lem today.
The winning entry in the competition, judged by the competition jury, was submitted by Julia Mizera from the 6th High School in Sosnowiec. Further places were taken by:
- Mateusz Król (Silesian School of Technology in Katowice/Śląskie Techniczne Zakłady Naukowe w Katowicach),
- Gabriela Seiringer (The Academic Secondary School in Gliwice),
- Michał Wróbel (the Complex of Technical Schools in Mikołów),
- Łukasz Buba (Vocational and Continuing Education Centre No. 1 in Racibórz).
All participants received official nominations as Ambassadors of the Faculty from the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Professor Anna Timofiejczuk.
After the award ceremony, the event participants had the opportunity to listen to a lecture on 3D printing, participate in workshops and visit the modern laboratories of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
