Eliminations for the XXX Olympiad in Information Technology
Eliminations for the next edition of the Olympiad in Information Technology are underway. The second stage of the competition will take place from 14th to 16th February 2023 at the Silesian University of Technology.
The IT Olympiad is addressed to secondary school students. The event is organized by the Ministry of National Education and the Foundation for the Development of Information Technology. The goal of the Olympiad is to enable IT-talented students to develop their talents and deepen their IT knowledge. Participants of the competition must demonstrate the ability to analyse algorithmic problems, specify them, create efficient algorithms and implement them in a high-level programming language, select appropriate data structures, test programs, and work in a programming environment.
The competition of the Olympiad in Information Technology consists of three stages. In Silesia, the second stage will take place from 14th to 16th February at the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science of the Silesian University of Technology. 31 participants qualified for it.
– Participation in the Olympics is an opportunity to present our faculty and encourage young people to study at the Silesian University of Technology. The contestants who reached the second stage are students with extensive IT knowledge. They are usually Matura class secondary school students, said Dr. Eng. Krzysztof Siminski, prof. of SUT.
The finalists of the Olympiad are first admitted to IT studies at all the best universities in the country. From among the best finalists, the Polish team is selected for the International Olympiad in Information Technology and other international IT competitions.
