Ecological solutions in photos made by children - results of the competition "ECO with EURECA"!
You may find interesting ideas, inspiring solutions and unusual ways to support environmental protection in your closest surrounding – at home, at school, in the yard, on the streets of your city. "ECO with EURECA" competition encouraged children to find them, capture them through the lens of their cameras and share with us.
The solutions found by the Participants of the "ECO with EURECA" competition serve to protect the environment and its resources, and also make it possible for everyone to take care of the environment on their own and to have an impact on how our planet develops. Thanks to the participants, we may learn about pro-ecological solutions that have been used in their neighborhood.
Young photographers – hundreds of pupils from primary and secondary schools from all over Poland – took pictures of interesting ideas and pro-ecological solutions that they found at home, at school or in the city. Among them there are inspiring actions that can be used by anyone who wants to support ecology in their own home. The photos promoted ideas such as the preparation of containers for segregating rubbish, examples of reusing used items (e.g. jars, plastic bottles, curtains), the use of rainwater.
There were also examples of the use of renewable energy sources - photovoltaic farms, hydropower plants and wind farms were photographed. In addition, the young creators paid attention to the solutions used in their localities. These were, among others, containers for plastic caps and bottles, electric scooters or bicycle rental stations, as well as insect houses set up in parks or gardens. Photographs presenting the world of animals or plants were also submitted to the competition - emphasizing the value of nature in the life of every human being.
All of the photos were extremely inspiring and showed the creativity of young artists.
The jurors were delighted not only with the perceptiveness and creativity, but also the maturity of the photographers - conscious inhabitants of our planet. The competition showed that we can look to the future with the hope.
The jurors also emphasize the high artistic level of the submitted photographs, the contestants were able to show ecological solutions in artistic and creative way with great success.

The organizer of the ECO with EURECA competition is the Silesian University of Technology. The project was carried out under the ERASMUS + EURECA-PRO Project. EURECA-PRO (European University Alliance on Responsible Consumption and Production) is a consortium created by the Silesian University of Technology and the University of Leoben (Austria), Technical University Freiberg (Germany), University of Petrosani (Romania), University of Leon (Spain), Technical University of Crete (Greece), Mittweida University of Applied Sciences (Germany), focusing, among others, on broadly-understood issues related to the 4th and 12th UN Sustainable Development Goal: good quality education for all and responsible consumption and production. The aim of the ECO with EURECA competition was to promote the assumptions of the EURECA-PRO project with a particular focus on shaping and strengthening pro-ecological attitudes among children and adolescents.

We would also like to thank and congratulate the Parents, Tutors and Teachers. Special words of thanks go to those Schools, which were very actively involved in the competition.
Due to the pandemic, we were forced to cancel the previously planned Gala for the awarding of awards and the opening of the competition exhibition. However, we have a plan to do an exhibition at the beginning of next year, we will inform soon. We hope that we will meet at the Gallery of the Science Popularization Center of the Silesian University of Technology.
The works awarded in the Polish edition will also take part in the international part of the competition. We will keep you updated on future events.
