Continuation of talks on plans to establish the Fraunhofer Design Centre at the Silesian University of Technology in Rybnik
On November 18th , at the Municipal Office in Rybnik, a meeting was held between the authorities of the Silesian University of Technology, the Fraunhofer Institute, the City of Rybnik and the Office of the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, during which the principles of cooperation regarding the plans to establish the Fraunhofer Design Centre at the Silesian University of Technology in Rybnik were discussed.
During the meeting, representatives of the Marshal's Office discussed the legitimacy of financing the individual components of the project, the value of which is PLN 26.5 million. This project was on the list of projects to be financed under the Just Transition Fund. The priority is to implement a responsible economic transformation, e.g. by supporting the development of smart specializations: hydrogen technologies, green economy, emerging industries, ICT, energy, artificial intelligence, digital medicine.
The talks, which took place in a hybrid form, were attended by the Rector - prof. Arkadiusz Mężyk, Vice Rector for Collaboration with Civic and Economic Environment prof. dr hab. Eng. Janusz Kotowicz, director of the Centre for Continuing Education dr hab. Zygmunt Lukaczyk prof. SUT on behalf of the Fraunhofer Institute prof. Lothar Kroll, the City of Rybnik was represented by the Mayor of the City, Piotr Kuczera, and the Head of the Development Department, Mateusz Motyka, on behalf of the Marshal's Office, Mrs. Stefania Koczar-Sikora, Mrs. Beata Goleśna.
