4th place in Poland and 17th place in Eastern European countries among higher education institutions for Silesian University of Technology in The SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR)

The SCImago Institutions Rankings is a classification of higher education academic institutions, focusing on three different sets of indicators based on research performance, innovation outputs and societal impact measured by their web visibility.

The highest level of precision for different indicators is achieved by carrying out an extensive manual process of disambiguation of institution’s name. The assessment tool for bibliometric analysis involves  an  enormous  data  processing  task  related  to  the  identification of institutions through  affiliation  of  documents  included  in  Scopus.

The main objectives of SCImago are to define and identify institutions, as well as to attribute publications and citations to each institution.

Since 2009, SIR publishes an international ranking of world’s research institutions – SIR World Report – conducted by SCImago’s research group.

SCImago is a research organization located in Spain and consists of members of Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), University in Granada, Charles III University in Madrid, Alcalá University, University in Estremadura and other educational institutions.
