Silesian Centre of Competence for Industry 4.0

The Silesian University of Technology and the Katowice Special Economic Zone have jointly established the Silesian Centre of Competence for Industry 4.0. The agreement was signed during the “Shaping the Market Potential of Business and Technology “ conference on February 21st in Warsaw. The Centre’s headquarters will be located in the Gliwice Subzone of the Katowice Special Economic Zone.

 

The agreement was signed by the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Professor Arkadiusz Mężyk, and the President of the Katowice Special Economic Zone, Janusz Michałek, as well as Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz and the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Professor Anna Timofiejczuk.

 

The main objective of the Silesian Centre of Competence for Industry 4.0 will be to support enterprises in the process of digital transformation as a part of the fourth industrial revolution. It will conduct, among other things, training on various technical issues related to digitization and Industry 4.0, projects, consulting, as well as analysis of the company’s potential and implementation for the needs of a modern, future-oriented economy.

 

During the conference, Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz from the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology emphasized that Poland wants to be a leader and set trends in the Industry 4.0.

 

“We have enormous potential, outstanding talents and excellent IT specialists. We want to make the Polish economy 4.0 so that Polish entrepreneurs will push their businesses towards 4.0.” – said the Minister. One of the elements of achieving this goal is undoubtedly the competence centres established in Poland, including the Silesian Centre of Competence for Industry 4.0.

 

The next step is the creation of the Centre’s structure, in which the Industry 4.0 Leadership Group will participate.
