Silesian University of Technology has gained a business partner of Japan!

The Silesian University of Technology and the Japanese company Kyosan Electric Manufacturing start cooperation. It will be developed, among others in the field of searching for solutions to current problems related to improving the safety and fluency of rail and road traffic. A letter of intent between the new partners was signed on September 4 in the university rectorate by the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology prof. Arkadiusz Mężyk and the President of Kyosan Electric Manufacturing -Tsutomu Tokodai.

The activities of Kyosan Electric Manufacturing include production and sale of railway signaling systems and traffic control systems, including automatic train control systems, automatic train stops and management systems. The Japanese company is currently working on ARTEMIS technology, which exchanges information on traffic and traffic lights between real-time signal control devices. The new business partner of the Silesian University of Technology counts primarily on cooperation with the university in the field of developing this technology.

-          Silesia is already a well-known European area in Japan. It is known as a technologically developed region, as well as contributing to the development of technology and industry. I would like to strongly engage in action that will further increase this rank. Our main goal now will be development of technologies related to signaling in rail and road transport, while the main area of interest will be ARTEMIS technology – said, during the meeting, Tsutomu Tokodai.

-          Transport problems are currently one of the most important areas that is being developed in our country - emphasized the Rector of the SUT. - In particular, the Silesian agglomeration will conduct very intensive activities in this area. The solutions in the field of traffic control are created and then implemented at the Faculty of Transport of the Silesian University of Technology. We are pleased to be involved in all activities and all forms of cooperation - said the rector of the SUT.

Cooperation between new business partners will rely on exchanging ideas, know-how and experiences of both parties. The university and the company both declare their willingness to cooperate in the field of research and implementation work as well as general education.
