„Foreign Students in Poland 2018” Conference at SUT

Almost 200 representatives from universities all over the country came to the Silesian University of Technology to participate in discussions related to the topic of internationalization of Polish higher education. “Foreign Students in Poland 2018” conference, jointly organized by the Silesian University of Technology and “Perspektywy” Foundation for Education, will take place on 29th and 30th of January in Educational and Congress Centre of the Silesian University of Technology, located at 18B Konarskiego Street in Gliwice. One of the guests at the conference will be Jarosław Gowin, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Science and Higher Education.

“Foreign Students in Poland” is a conference organized periodically as a part of the long-term “Study in Poland” programme, conducted jointly by the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland and the “Perspektywy” Foundation for Education. This year’s edition will be devoted to current issues of internationalization of Polish higher education, development of mobility of students and researchers, as well as promotion of intellectual potential of cities and regions. It will also be an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with the best Polish and foreign experience in this area.

Internationalization is the main driving force behind the development of higher education in the world. In Poland, the number of study programs in foreign languages and the number of students from abroad has been increasing for several years. Activities in this area are a priority for many universities. Therefore, the conference will be attended by rectors, vice rectors and directors of international cooperation and promotion of Polish universities. The voice of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education will also be heard. Minister Jarosław Gowin will take part in the discussion as well.

The development of internationalization, in particular the acquisition of gifted foreign students at Polish universities, requires the preparation of a more attractive offer than can be found in many universities in Western countries. During the session titled "Cooperation between science, business and local government, an opportunity to acquire gifted foreign students" attended by, among others, Presidents of Katowice, Gliwice and Zabrze, the concept of joint activities of the university, business and self-government will be presented. The conference program also includes sessions devoted to internationalization of education in Great Britain with the participation of Ambassador Jonathan Knott and the session titled "How to recruit students from Kazakhstan and Vietnam?", which will be attended by the ambassador of Kazakhstan, Marguan Baimuchan.
