SUT’s graduate awarded with the Giovanni Agnelli Award

Dariusz Gros from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was awarded with the Giovanni Agnelli Award, granted by the Fiat Research Centre as a part of the FCA company theses contest. His master thesis was recognized as the most valuable for the industry, among all of this year’s winners.


Topic of Dariusz Gros’s thesis was: “Optimization and numerical analysis of the strength properties of a connecting rod of an internal combustion engine”, supervised by Agata Śliwa, PhD, from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.


The young engineer found himself among six students and graduates of the Silesian University of Technology who won the XIX edition of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles contest for the best diploma and research theses. For four years now, the Fiat Research Centre also choses one thesis with the greatest value for the industry among all awarded ones. Its author receives the prestigious Giovanni Agnelli Award. The work of Dariusz Gros turned out to be the best among the winners of three universities participating in the contest: the Silesian University of Technology, the Warsaw University of Technology and the University of Bielsko-Biala.
