Patent Office of the Republic of Poland Conference at SUT

The Patent Office of the Republic of Poland would like to invite everyone to participate in a series of international seminars (the so-called “Roving Seminars”) on the topic of intellectual property protection abroad. Those seminars will take place at three Polish universities: in Cracow, Gliwice and Wroclaw. Silesian University of Technology is a co-organizer of this project, and its seminar will take place on January 24th, 2018, in the assembly hall of the Education and Congress Centre, located by Konarskiego Street 18a in Gliwice.

The series of international conferences marks a special jubilee for the Patent Office, the 100th anniversary of the establishment of an industrial property protection system in Poland, as well as the creation – by the decree of the Head of State, Józef Piłsudski – of the Patent Office. The jubilee celebrations were granted the honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland.

The aim of the seminars is to equip listeners with basic knowledge about innovations, utility models, industrial designs and trademarks, as well as to answer the questions about their effective protection in competitive markets. Participants will acquire a unique, practical know-how on the subject of conducting searches and building protection strategies, as well as guidelines on protective procedures, – national, regional and international – including the possibility of using a simplified path under the Patent Prosecution Highway program and before the Visegrad Patent Institute. Lectures will also deal with the Madrid system of international registration of trademarks and the Hague system of international registration of industrial designs. Another issues, complement to those themes will be related to alternative dispute resolution methods, supervised by the World Intellectual Property Organization Arbitration and Mediation Center.

Participation in seminars is free. Detailed information and registration form can be found on the website of the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland:
