Students of the Silesin University of Technology at prestigious competition Shell Eco-marathon Europe (SEM) 2019

At the beginning of July, the 34th edition of the Shell Eco-marathon Europe competition took place in London. During the competition  the Smart Power team represented the Silesian University of Technology. Every year, this event brings together students from all over Europe and Africa. They participate in competitions in designing, building and testing vehicles with the highest energy efficiency on the professional track. There are three drive categories: diesel, hydrogen and electric. This year, more than 1,500 participants from 28 countries took part constructing a total of 140 vehicles.

During preparations, which took the entire year, the team worked on the MuSHELLka vehicle project, which historically was the first car built by the team for SEM purposes. It is an electric sports car that competes in the prototype category. Eventually, the team scored 183.41 km/kWh, taking the 30th place in their category.

Smart Power is a team operating within the Students' Scientific Association for Machine Design Modeling at the Silesian University of Technology, gathering enthusiasts from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science and the Faculty of Chemistry.
