On Tuesday, 23 October, the 13th International Conference on Boiler Technology 2018 has begun. This year the leading subject is "Current Issues in Boiler Construction
and Operation", organized by the Institute of Power Engineering and Turbomachinery of the Silesian University of Technology with participation of RAFAKO SA, Sumitomo SHI FW Energia Polska and the Office of Technical Inspection.
This cyclical conference, have been organized for 54 years now in a four-year cycle.
It is considered by specialists as one of the largest thematic boiler conferences worldwide.
This year, the conference gathered around 450 participants from 90 companies, including
15 foreign companies. The conference is also attended by students who are members
of scientific associations and students from abroad, studying under KIC InnoEnergy. Ninety five scientific papers will be presented at the conference.
The opening ceremony was attended by: the Vice-Rector of the Silesian University
of Technology for Collaboration with Civic and Economic Environment Professor Janusz Kotowicz, Miles Energeticae (Knight of Energy), Professor Taduesz Chmielniak, Professor Marek Pronobis and industry representatives: president of the management board of ENERGOPROJEKT S.A. Katowice Łukasz Grela, president of the management board
of RAFAKO S.A. Agnieszka Wasilewska-Semail, president of the management board
of Sumitomo SHI FW - Jarosław Mlonka.
After opening session, there were historical ceremonies dedicated to Professor Pronobis’50th anniversary of academic activity awarding Professor with the medal of Professor Stanisław Ochęduszko by the Board of the Association of Students of Mechanical Engineering
and Energy and Environmental Engineering Faculties, as well as the act of awarding
the honorary title of Miles Energeticae to 19 nominated, outstanding representatives
of the world of science and energy industry.
After historical ceremonies, debates in thematic sections began, they will last till Friday,
